STIFF COTTON

AMH is pleased to announce Victor G. Jeffreys II in STIFF COTTON.

This is Victor G. Jeffreys II’s first solo show, one conceived over time with methodical precision. The works are self-portraits silkscreened on cum-rags stretched on wood or hung on a nail. The process is direct: pull a dirty t-shirt from the hamper, use and throw back into said hamper to be cleaned by the local laundry mat, repeat. Victor is practical, he doesn’t aim to save toilet paper; he aims to make art out of the ordinary, sell the works and pay the rent. Victor re-appropriates, performs and repurposes everyday materials to produce this series of paintings and sculptures. Make of it what you want.

Victor has connected the broken and disconnected relationship between artist and art. Sourcing everyday t-shirts and using himself, the artist marries the physical act of making art in material and imagery, with the actual work. Victor has turned an intimate act into a public display in STIFF COTTON.

Opening Reception is tomorrow, August 21st from 6 to 9 p.m.

Show runs August 21st through August 26th.
